Travel is a funny thing. Sometimes we connect with foreign lands so profoundly that we ache for them even years later. I’ve been fortunate enough to spend quite a bit of time in Australia, at least comparatively, and have traveled to nearly every state and territory, gradually learning what makes this massive country tick. Along the way I’ve found many a kindred spirit and have deeply fallen in love with the Land Down Under. It’s a strange and quirky place, which is maybe why I love it so much, but I also enjoy my time there thanks to the very unique and unusual adventures you can only enjoy in Australia. From the wet and wild north to the sparkling cities of the south and the vast deserts in between, there’s a lot to love and admire about Australia and that’s why I wanted to devote this week’s podcast episode to the continent-country.
Michael Turtle
Michael Turtle previously worked for a decade as a national radio and television reporter in Australia, at the Australian Broadcasting Corporation and the Seven Network. In 2011, he became a full-time travel writer and blogger and has visited more than 75 countries. His travel blog, Travel Australia Today focuses on the all aspects of traveling around Australia. Michael also uses his social media following to engage on topics around travel and tourism and share his photography and videography. Michael writes a weekly travel page in The Canberra Times and has contributed to many other publications, including the Sydney Morning Herald, Travel and Escape, and ABC Life. He has been a guest on numerous radio and television shows, where he shares his experiences and advice for travellers.
