One of my habits after returning home from a trip is to curate some of my favorite photos and share them here. It’s a way for me to organize my thoughts about the experience and consider what I want to write about in the coming weeks. As a way to share my thought process with you all, I want to highlight today some of my favorite photos from my most recent trip to Iceland. Traveling to the northernmost reaches of the country in winter may not be everyone’s idea of fun, but I loved the experiences, as I hope these photos demonstrate.
That last picture brings back memories of my own.
Top Tip for the Blue Lagoon: Go on a snowy day. The water is just as warm, but the cold air means there is more steam, making the whole experience more mysterious and magical. Visibility is limited and the sound is muffled, so you can’t see or hear most other people. Neither can you see what’s around the next corner, so you keep discovering new areas of the lagoon pool. Really, it doesn’t feel cold, except for the brief few steps between the building and the water (or you can even swim in an out).
