Change In The Air: My Favorite Off Season Destinations

I always enjoy participating in the weekly #FriFotos photo sharing event on Twitter. It’s a good way for me to think creatively and to consider new ideas that usually hadn’t occurred to me before. Such was the case this week when the theme was announced to be CHANGE. I decided to take a slight twist on it and share those locations around the world where I love to see the change of seasons, especially in the off-season when there are fewer people around. What are some of your favorite off season destinations?

  1. Love the tropics in the off season as well Matt. I’m in Puerto Vallarta right now, and the beaches are mostly empty despite it being a perfect sunny day. Hurricane is off the coast though (it will miss by a lot though, so no worries!), so you gotta have a taste for danger too! :P

  2. Lovely photos! The one of Milan brings back so many memories of my study abroad- my tutor teased me for being from ‘foggy old London’, but my overriding memory of Milan is that bitingly cold, blinding fog you captured in that last photo!

  3. Lively presentation. Great Pictures. You have justified following quote true.”Matt travels the world in order to share tips on where to go, what to see and how to experience the best the world has to offer.”

  4. Wow, your pictures are just amazing! I like this gloomy beach in Ireland the most.
My favourite off season destination is Lapland right now in September, when all trees are gold, brown and red before the leaves fall down. So warm colours! :)

  5. The variety of colors in your pictures is striking and impressive to the eye. Well done!
All these destinations look like a totally different place off season. What’s missing? The human factor, which makes the difference. I think it would be a good idea, although difficult, for tourists to try to visit a place off season, just to see how it looks like then.

  6. I’ve never been to your listed places but I know Madrid, Spain in shoulder-season is nice. Chilly but there’s the festival of lights, less tourists and an excuse to spend even more time in all the museums, to get out of the cold!
