One of the world’s top refuges, a visit to Kruger National Park in South Africa is truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Covering more than 7,400 square miles this massive park was also South Africa’s first national park when it came under government protection in 1926. Even though nearly 1 million people visit the park every year, managers have been able to maintain the park as the natural refuge it was meant to be. Whether you visit on a day trip or part of an overnight stay at a lodge or camp, the wildlife experiences you will enjoy are almost guaranteed to be amazing. Even though I had just a short two days in the park, I was able to see many different animals, including these beautiful creatures I found while on safari.

You are so lucky to have seen a great variety of animals while in the park Matt. A few friends of mine have visited Kruger and have come out just seeing some zebra and a few elephants. Great photos!
We are three months away from our trip there, and I really could not be more excited. Thanks for the re-inspiration!
Oh man I gotta get me on one of these safari’s, stunning photography too, really well done, Cheers
Thanks Jaryd!
These pictures are magnificent, and you were lucky to have spotted a Rhino with his beautiful horns still intact! I live 1 hour way from the Kruger National Park (Mpumalanga side) , and this blog really made me just want to get into my car and take the day off work to be with nature. Even though I live so close, I get excited every time I go to the KNP, it truly is something everyone needs to experience in life! My mother is always there every chance she gets, while she listens to the Crocodile River she writes poetry and often finds inspiration for her paintings there carolinestreetart.com in case you would like to see. Let me tell everyone who sees this, save up and make your way here, its a must see for all!
Thank you for sharing Nicole and you’re right, it’s indeed a very special place.
South Africa is amazing. Absolutely stunning photos from Kruger — we loved our safari in Kruger and it was such an incredible trip.
