As you may or may not know, my visit to Cape Town last year left an incredible impression on me and still today I long for a return, no matter how brief. I’ve explored the reasons for my Mother City-lust before, but there isn’t just one reason why it appeals to me as much as it does. Instead it’s everything about the city, the region, the entire peninsula really that come together to create geographic magic that is hard to replicate. One of these magic moments is driving along Chapman’s Peak Drive; one of the best drives in the world. This 9-kilometer route features a stunning 114 curves as it runs between Noordhoek and Hout Bay. Along the way though are views that almost unparalleled in the world. The powers that be luckily realized the sheer beauty of the landscape below and there are plenty of places to stop where you can admire the views, have a picnic and just thank God you’re in South Africa.
Still not convinced? Here’s a photo series of my own drive along what truly is one of the most beautiful drives in the world. (If you have a bucket list, you should be adding this to it now)

BEYOND gorgeous shots, wow! :)
Thanks Andi!
Beautiful shots, Matt. How did you get around while you were there, and specifically on this drive? I’ll be in Cape Town for the first time next May, and I’m looking forward to seeing many of the sights you’ve posted from your trip.
You bet. the company used was Escape to the Cape and I can’t recommend them highly enough. Plus their vans have free wifi! http://www.escapetothecape.co.za/
Excellent! Thanks Matt.
I liked Chapman Drive so much I did it twice. But after driving Swartberg Pass north of Oudtshoorn it became my favorite.
