Mobile technology has quickly transformed the way we do almost everything, including travel. There are many apps that are designed to help us learn about and navigate through new travel destinations, but they can be sometimes hard to find. To help your search for great New Zealand travel apps, here is my guide to getting the most out of your antipodal travels through your iPhone or iPad.
Air New Zealand mPass – mPass allows users to monitor all domestic/international flights, check reservation details and use your iPhone as a boarding pass. Cost – Free
AucklandNZ – The official iPhone app for Auckland, New Zealand’s largest city. This app lists activities, attractions and events. Cost – Free
Auckland Insider – Not your usual travel guide. This app provides a unique Insider/Outsider view of New Zealand, seen through the prism of Auckland. Cost – $2.99
iTravelNZ – This is a comprehensive app for New Zealand travel based on information from locals and other travelers. Cost – Free
Lonely Planet Auckland – This world famous guidebook company now has an easy to use and helpful guide for New Zealand’s largest city. Cost – $5.99
Natural Wonders of New Zealand – The app serves as a complete travel planning guide to exploring the top 36 natural wonders of New Zealand. Cost – $0.99
New Zealand Adrenaline Adventure Travel – The ultimate app for thrill seekers, the app features just about every amazing, once-in-a-lifetime, thrill-seeking adventure the island nation has to offer. Cost – $2.99
New Zealand’s South Island Travel Guide – Expert travel writers point out the best there is on the South Island. Sights, activities, hotels and restaurants are all featured in this one-stop-shopping South Island app. Cost – $1.99
New Zealand Spot-On – Created by Air New Zealand, this is an extremely well done and useful mobile app. With the app users can find local WiFi, learn more about New Zealand destinations, book flights and download a full map of the country. Not bad for free. Cost – Free
The Parks: New Zealand – This ultimate guide to New Zealand’s national parks allows the user to browse through the list of parks, use maps to navigate, photos and much more. This is a great app to help you explore the fantastic nature of New Zealand. Cost – $0.99
Welly Walks – The walking tours featured in this app help users discover the best tourist spots in Wellington, from nature reserves to important landmarks and sites. Cost – Free

So we’ve just come off beta development and working hard on increasing information for travellers, with even more points of interest, but also travel info and suggestions. We’re open to any ideas how we can/should incorporate New Zealand related blogs into the travel info we provide? It’s something we often discuss because we recognise quality travel blogs like yours are engaging and informative and add personality to the info.

I Visit New Zealand has also just hit the market – appears just for the Coromandel and altho low on content but looks really easy to use
