Yes, by now I am tired of the 24/7 news coverage of the pandemic, but for once the news media have it right in regards to how important this is. We have never seen anything like it, period, the end. People keep comparing it to SARS and Mad Cow, but I was never quarantined in my house for weeks on end for those or any other crisis. This will fundamentally change our lives forever, it just will.

Since I work in the travel industry that is of course foremost on my mind. But it is also the world’s largest employer and already millions have lost their jobs and millions more will as well before this is all over. Also, people love to travel and losing the ability to temporarily leave their homes has had a profound psychological impact. While leisure travel isn’t happening right now, once this is all over I’m willing to bet that the first thing many people will want to do is leave home for, well, anywhere.

Today we’re chatting with a travel industry insider to learn more about how the pandemic has very quickly changed his business and what he thinks lays in store for the travel industry. This week’s podcast is invaluable for anyone who has even a passing interest in travel, whether from the industry or consumer point of view.
