Losses at Hong Kong Disneyland mar an otherwise strong Q4 for Disney parks

Pro-democracy protests in Hong Kong have had an impact at the turnstiles at Hong Kong Disneyland, Disney CFO Christina McCarthy said during the company’s earnings call on Nov. 7. The park recorded a $55 million loss of income for the fiscal fourth quarter, a price tag that could increase to $275 million over the course of the next 12 months if the unrest continues.

Bonvoy Helps Boost Marriott’s Direct Bookings

In the three years since Marriott completed its acquisition of Starwood, the hotel giant has notched a number of notable accomplishments including improved guest satisfaction, the launch of a new loyalty program and a surge in direct online bookings.

As part of its third-quarter results report, Marriott President and CEO Arne Sorenson said the company has realized many “meaningful synergies” over the past three years and has also recycled more than $2.2 billion of assets.

Boeing Anticipating Return of 737 MAX This January

Boeing expects the grounded 737 MAX jet to return to commercial service by January, the airline manufacturer announced this week.

On Monday, the company confirmed that it anticipates the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) will issue an order approving the aircraft’s return to service this winter.

Meredith Vieira named godmother of Avalon View

Avalon Waterways has named television host and journalist Meredith Vieira to be godmother of the Avalon View.

Vieira, a former host of the television show “The View,” will christen the ship in a ceremony on April 6 in Ybbs, Austria.
