On Tuesday, Disney announced a price increase for annual Disney World passes, the opening of bookings for 2020 Vacation Packages and an expanded partnership with Lyft.
For travelers who purchase annual passes for the Walt Disney World theme park, prices have gone up drastically this year. For Florida residents, the Platinum Plus passes are $999 per year (up from $849) and the Platinum passes are $899 (up from $749).
Travelers to Europe this summer should again expect a tough season of flight delays, officials are warning, despite measures being taken to counter the problem.
“Finding solutions for the capacity crunch is now urgent,” European commissioner for transport Violeta Bulc said in a speech at the IATA general meeting in Seoul early this month.
Iceland is preparing for a deeper recession this year amid dropping tourism arrivals and a disastrous fishing season, central bank Governor Mar Gudmundsson said.
“We are prepared for the possibility of a deeper recession, and the numbers we are getting on tourist arrivals seem to indicate that that may happen,” Gudmundsson said in an interview on the sidelines of a conference in Dubrovnik, Croatia. “There may be a fall in tourism numbers to the 2016 level and this may have a significant effect on households, but hopefully we’ll be out of this early next year.”
Airline financial data is out for the first quarter of 2019, and airline baggage fees are paying off in a big way.
U.S. airlines raked in $1.3 billion in baggage fees in the first quarter of 2019, compared to $1.1 billion during the same period last year, according to Department of Transportation data. It’s about a $170 million uptick from 2018.
