Royal Caribbean in partnership to redevelop Freeport cruise port, Grand Lucayan

A partnership involving Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. has purchased the largest resort on Grand Bahama Island and will redevelop and expand the cruise facilities in Freeport.

At a ceremony, the government’s Lucayan Renewal Holdings signed a letter of intent with Royal Caribbean and Mexico’s ITM Group for the sale of the Grand Lucayan Resort.

 

Google’s Hotel Search Now Includes Vacation Rentals

Google recently redesigned its mobile and desktop site for hotel searches to improve the user experience. Now the company is taking things one step further, and expanding search beyond traditional accommodations.

Google relaunched its mobile site on Tuesday to add all types of short-term rental properties, including hotels and vacation rental listings from partners including Expedia, HomeAway, VRBO, Hotels.com, RedAwning, and TripAdvisor.

 

Icelandic airline Wow Air collapses and cancels all flights

Iceland’s low cost carrier Wow Air has canceled all flights and told passengers to book with other airlines.

Its website has a travel alert that begins: “Wow Air has ceased operation. All Wow Air flights have been canceled.”

The alert said people who wanted to travel should now look for “so-called rescue fares” which may now be offered by rival airlines.

Bulb fields close to the Netherlands’ North Sea coast are a major tourist drawcard each spring as tulips, daffodils, hyacinths and other flowers bloom and transform the region into a patchwork of vibrant colors that provide the backdrop for many a holiday snap or Instagram post.
