Hyatt and American Airlines partner to award bonus points

Hyatt and American Airlines are teaming up to offer expanded partnership benefits across their World of Hyatt and AAdvantage loyalty programs.

Under the new collaboration, World of Hyatt members at the Discoverist, Explorist and Globalist levels will be able to earn one World of Hyatt bonus point for every eligible dollar spent on qualifying American flights, while AAdvantage Gold, Platinum, Platinum Pro, Executive Platinum and ConciergeKey members will be granted one AAdvantage bonus mile for every eligible dollar spent at qualifying Hyatt properties.

At the beginning of the new year, Exodus Travels named its 12 ways we could all be better travelers in 2019. The desire to be better travelers was backed up by a survey conducted for Exodus by OnePoll of 2,000 Americans who have been outside of North America and the Caribbean within the last three years, as 79 percent of respondents said that they hope to become more ethically conscious in their future travels.


The Luxury Collection announces first hotel in Seychelles

The Luxury Collection, part of Marriott International, Inc., today announced its planned debut in the Seychelles with the signing of North Island – one of the world’s most luxurious private island resorts.

Located amongst the inner granitic islands of Seychelles, North Island is owned by the North Island Company Limited and is anticipated to join The Luxury Collection’s portfolio of world-renowned hotels and resorts later this year.


Several passengers hurt as cruise ship tilts when hit by sudden 115 mph gust

The Norwegian Cruise Line’s Escape, a passenger ship capable of cruising with 6,000 people, was pushed suddenly Sunday night by a gust of wind about 115 mph, a burst similar to the wind of a Category 3 hurricane.

Several passengers and crew members were injured, the company said Tuesday without giving specific numbers or detailing the nature of injuries. Medical teams on board tended to the injured.
