Mexican Government Unveils New Tourism Plans

The Mexican government announced a new six-year tourism strategy Sunday that would focus on five key goals, including building the Maya Train and enticing tourists to spend more money.

According to Mexico News Daily, Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador said during an event in Quintana Roo that tourism was the nation’s third largest foreign exchange earner, contributing $22 billion to the economy.

 

Southwest Airlines finally gets FAA approval to fly to Hawaii

Southwest Airlines is finally on its way to Hawaii.

The Federal Aviation Administration on Wednesday approved the low-cost carrier to fly to the islands from the West Coast, Southwest said.

The airline, which will service Hawaii from several cities in California, will announce when it will start selling tickets to the popular vacation destination in the coming days, it said in a statement.

Crystal River Cruises is sailing four- and six-day voyages this spring on the Crystal Mahler and Crystal Mozart.

American Airlines Is Considering Flying to Africa and India with New Dreamliners

American Airlines, lacking the global footprint of its top two U.S. competitors, may expand to India and Africa once a second batch of Boeing 787 orders starts arriving next year, an executive told Skift this week in an interview in Dallas.

“That’s the airplane that is going to take us eventually to India and into Africa, and into markets which are very different from the ones that we have been in historically, but ones we believe will be very profitable,” said Vasu Raja, the airline’s vice president for planning.
