Hilton Washington D.C. National Mall opening April 1

The Hilton Washington D.C. National Mall will open its doors on April 1.

Located above D.C.’s L’Enfant Plaza Metro Station, the property is the culmination of a renovation and reflagging of the former L’Enfant Plaza Hotel.

Housing a total of 367 guestrooms, the Hilton Washington D.C. National Mall promises views of the city’s skyline and the Capitol dome, Washington National Cathedral and Washington Monument, among other landmarks.


Vietnamese airlines allowed to fly to US for first time

Vietnamese airlines are now allowed to fly to the United States for the first time, the Federal Aviation Administration announced Thursday.

The FAA found that Vietnam complies with international safety standards for “personnel licensing, operations, and airworthiness” and gave the country a “Category 1” rating. This rating gives Vietnamese airlines the ability to fly to and from the U.S. and share codes with American air carriers.


Airlines to add nonbinary gender options for tickets

Airlines are planning to present travelers who don’t identify as either male or female more options when they book their flights.

Airlines for America, an industry group that represents some of the largest U.S. carriers, including American Airlines, JetBlue Airways and Alaska Airlines, and the International Air Transport Association, which represents most of the world’s airlines, recently approved standards for nonbinary passenger identification.

Tourists are being advised to wear respiratory masks in Bangkok after a toxic haze, which descended on the city in December, shows no signs of moving.

The haze arrived in December as a result of high air pressure, car emissions, construction dust, coal-fired power plants, crop burning close to the city and wind conditions.
