Introducing a New Adventure – The Explore the World Travel Podcast

When I started my travel blog in 2010, I really didn’t know what I was doing. I’ve never been a techie kind of guy, and honestly I’m still not. I didn’t really understand what a blog was when I published my first post and it’s a miracle I was able to somehow able to cobble together a web site with almost zero technical know-how. I managed though and over the years it, along with my online presence, has gradually grown and evolved. Social media has always played an important role in this strange career I’ve created, but in recent years it’s become even more important. While I love writing dearly and my photography has certainly improved dramatically over the years, in recent months I’ve felt as if something was missing; a certain creative spark. I’ve always loved writing and running LandLopers, but I needed to add something new into the mix, I needed something different that would enable me to share aspects of travel I can’t share on LandLopers and, frankly, to challenge myself a little more. Then it came to me.

For almost as long as I’ve been running LandLopers, I’ve also been thinking about creating a podcast. I’m not entirely sure why I didn’t start one years ago, except maybe I was intimidated by the process. Whatever the reason, a few weeks ago I was watching TV when a news segment about podcasts came on. It reawakened that desire to start one of my own and for whatever reason, it sparked my creative juices. The result is that today I am very proud to announce something new and different for me, the Explore the World Travel Podcast.

I’ve been looking for a new element to add to my travel storytelling quiver, and a podcast is ideal. I’m no YouTuber, it’s just not a platform that matches my personality. Podcasting though is different; it gives me the opportunity to produce a new show every week, sharing what I find interesting and hopefully informing people along the way. Everything else I currently do will stay the same. I will still post 3 narrative posts and photo posts to LandLopers every week, along with daily travel news roundups. I will also of course keep up my robust social media posts, especially on Twitter and Instagram. Nothing I currently do will change, instead the podcast is a new outlet, something to help me better share the travel experience and provide listeners with useful information and insight.

I will release a new Explore the World travel podcast every week, hopefully on Mondays, and each week there will be a different theme. Weekly guests who are experts in the topic will join the podcast to share insider tips and updates, from travel hacking to cruises and Disney or destination specific information, like Ireland or Thailand. The guests are true professionals who know their subject area very well and will add a lot to each podcast. In addition to the interviews, I will also be sharing the latest travel news that I think people should know about, profiles on new places I visit and my own thoughts about the weekly theme.

I haven’t been this excited about something in a long time and, to be honest, it’s a wonderful feeling. There’s nothing better than being energized about a new project and the podcast has me running on all cylinders. I need your help though. Please take a listen to the first podcast and, if you like it, please be sure to subscribe. It would also mean a lot if you could rate and review it on iTunes, as it helps other people find it as well.

Moving forward, you can see all of the Explore the World travel podcast episodes on iTunes, Google Play, Spotify, Stitcher and on this page I’ve created here on LandLopers.

This is something completely new for me and I can’t wait to hear what you all think.
