2 hospitalized after heavy turbulence on American flight

A passenger and a flight attendant were hospitalized after an American Airlines flight hit heavy turbulence and was diverted to Austin-Bergstrom International Airport Wednesday night.
Flight 5781, an American Eagle flight operated by Mesa Airlines, landed safely in Texas after encountering weather issues, American Airlines told USA TODAY.

 

Royal Caribbean Issues Crime Warning in Nassau, Bahamas

Royal Caribbean has begun issuing warnings to its passengers about the increase in crime in Nassau, Bahamas.

According to a report in CruiseRadio.net, a letter was recently circulated to those traveling on Royal Caribbean’s Anthem of the Seas, warning them about such issues as theft of personal items in Nassau.

 

Uber resumes test of self-driving cars

Uber is once again testing self-driving vehicles in Pittsburgh, nine months after suspending the tests of the vehicles following a fatal accident.

Uber is testing a small number of cars within Pittsburgh’s Strip District that will go no faster than 25 mph, according to The New York Times. It also is planning on testing autonomous vehicles in Toronto and San Francisco.

 

$32,000 donation reopens Independence Hall, Liberty Bell for weekend

Despite the partial government shutdown, Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell Center will reopen Friday and remain open all weekend.

The mayor’s office made the announcement Thursday, saying Visit Philadelphia is donating approximately $32,000 to the National Park Service to cover the costs to keep both tourist attractions open for the three days.
