Thompson Hotels Is Coming to DC
Thompson Hotels has settled on Washington, D.C.’s burgeoning The Yards neighborhood for its next luxury hotel project.
The international hospitality company will debut in the nation’s capital with the 225-room Thompson D.C., scheduled to open along the scenic Anacostia Riverfront in early 2020. The property, which is The Yards’ first hotel development, will be within walking distance of Nationals Park, The Yards Park, the Anacostia Riverwalk Trail and other area attractions.
American to sell bare-bones fares on overseas flights
American Airlines will begin to roll out basic economy fares on Europe routes in April, as the carrier steps up efforts to compete with budget airlines Norwegian Air and Wow Air as well as Delta, which is already selling transatlantic basic economy tickets.
The product, however, will differ in key ways from American’s domestic and short-haul international basic economy product, which it introduced last year.
Travel in England and Ireland was disrupted Wednesday as snow from a Siberian weather pattern called the Beast from the East covered the region.
According to Reuters.com, up to 15 inches of snow fell on portions of the United Kingdom and temperatures dropped to around 10 degrees Fahrenheit, causing delays and cancellations on roads, railways and at airports.
The much-anticipated projected dates for peak bloom of the cherry trees on the National Mall are in. According to the National Park Service, Washington’s crowd-pleasing blossoms will peak March 17 to March 20.
The peak bloom date is defined as the time period during which 70% of the Yoshino Cherry blossoms are open, the Park Service says.
