Hurricane-battered Puerto Rico now officially open for tourism

Puerto Rico is open for tourism as it kicks-off its winter season on December 20, and just in time for the holidays.

More than 100 hotels are open and operating. More than four thousand restaurants are taking orders and serving up delicious cuisine. Major tourism attractions Island-wide have been cleaned up and restored, according to the Puerto Rico Tourism Company (PRTC), the official governing body of the tourism industry.


Ryanair Christmas strike suspended after airline agrees to talks

An upcoming Ryanair pilot strike has been suspended after the airline agreed to talks – much to the relief of those flying abroad for Christmas.

The Irish carrier offered to recognise unions for the first time on Friday after pilots in Ireland, Britain, Germany, Italy, Spain and Portugal threatened walkouts.

The airline said Saturday that it was prepared to meet representatives from Impact, to which the Irish Airline Pilots’ Association (IALPA) is affiliated, on Tuesday in a bid to avert the strike.


Mexico bus crash: Tourists killed in Quintana Roo state

A bus carrying tourists from a cruise ship has overturned in south-eastern Mexico, killing at least 12 people, officials say.

Another 18 people were injured in the crash between Mahahual and Cafetal in Quintana Roo state.

The bus was taking 31 people, who were on a Royal Caribbean cruise, to the ancient Mayan ruin at Chaccobén.

Those on board were nationals of the US, Italy, Sweden and Brazil, a bus company statement said.


Cathay Pacific Launches Sale For New DC Route
Cathay Pacific Airways will add Washington Dulles International airport to its network in 2018, confirming reports that the US capital would be its next new destination.
