Capacity the biggest challenge for Europe tour operators

As the euro continued to rally last week, threatening to make Europe less of a bargain for U.S. travelers, tour operators rolling out their 2018 brochures this month reported that the exchange rate has not impacted their prices much, if at all.

What is having an impact and is proving a bigger challenge, they said, is the growing capacity crunch in Europe’s top destinations.


North Carolina Islands Evacuated Ahead of Hurricane Maria

As a result of Hurricane Maria’s likely impact on North Carolina’s Outer Banks this week, local authorities are calling for residents and tourists to evacuate the islands.

According to The Associated Press, Ocracoke Island was evacuated Monday morning at the direction of the Hyde County Sheriff’s office. An estimated 225 people already left, with another 700 still remaining on the island.

Uber CEO Apologizes After London Ban

Just days after the Transport for London (TfL) decided against renewing its license to operate in the city when it expires September 30, Uber’s new CEO Dara Khosrowshahi issued an apology.

The new chief executive also vowed to make improvements.
