Hurricane Maria Devastates Puerto Rico, Continues Through Caribbean

After leaving all of Puerto Rico without power Wednesday, Hurricane Maria moved onto the Dominican Republic Thursday.

According to, Hurricane Maria lost some of its power as it crossed Puerto Rico, but it once again strengthened into a Category 3 storm with sustained winds are near 115 miles per hour. The National

Hurricane Center said the storm could continue strengthening during the next day or so.


Airbnb now has restaurant reservations

Airbnb is enabling users to book restaurant reservations after reaching an agreement with restaurant reservations app Resy.

Airbnb is offering the ability to make reservations at 650 U.S. restaurants. The company plans to expand its inventory to restaurants in other countries within the next few months.


Airlines set record charging $7.1 billion fees for bags and flight changes last year

Airlines collected a record $7 billion last year in fees on baggage and flight changes, reflecting a steady rise in those fees since 2010, according to a government report Wednesday.

The $7.1 billion compares to $6.3 billion in 2010, in dollars adjusted for inflation, according to the Government Accountability Office. Consumer advocates complain that the growing fees make it tougher to compare prices, even as airlines say the fees cover choices are part the competition between carriers.


Mexico Volcano Erupts Following Earthquake

Just as a devastating 7.1 magnitude earthquake rocked Mexico, the nation’s famed Popocatepetl volcano erupted, sending a plume of smoke in the air.

At the time of the eruption, a church in the town of Atzitzihuacan which is located on the slopes of the volcano, collapsed during a mass, killing 15 according to Reuters. The volcano is located just 40 miles southeast of Mexico City and can be seen from the capital city when the weather is clear.
