The Beauty of Colombia’s Colorful Pueblos in 15 Photos

I had certain expectations before my first trip to Colombia: great food, lots of coffee and vibrant cities. One thing I didn’t anticipate though was being charmed by the country’s more rural areas, especially in its famed coffee-growing region. This ethereal, cloud-covered countryside is the stuff of movies, and an important aspect of visiting is to spend time in the many small towns or pueblos strewn throughout the mountains. Colonial design and colors that seem trapped in time, towns like Salento and Filandia aren’t just nice places to visit, for most visitors they come to define the experience in this strangely mesmerizing part of the country.
