Etihad and Lufthansa signal closer co-operation
Etihad Airways and Lufthansa have signed agreements to co-operate in the fields of catering and maintenance as a first step of what the two airlines describe as a growing partnership.
The Gulf carrier has contracted Lufthansa unit LSG Sky Chefs to provide catering at 16 airports across Asia, Europe and the Americas. The four-year deal is worth around $100 million, the two airlines said during a joint press briefing webcasted from Abu Dhabi.

The California-based cruise operator’s fleet on Thursday grew from two vessels to three with the addition of the 930-passenger Viking Sky.
Viking took delivery of the ship during a handover ceremony at the Fincantieri shipyard in Ancona, Italy, where it has been under construction for more than a year.
United and Avianca aiming for strategic partnership
United is working with Avianca Holdings and Avianca Brasil on a commercial and strategic partnership.
The Avianca family of airlines includes the eponymous Colombian carrier Avianca, which is that nation’s largest, as well as the Central American carrier Taca, Ecuador’s AeroGal and Avianca Brasil.
Luxury travel bookings are seeing a hefty bounce back for 2017, with more than 81 percent of high-end travel agents claiming their bookings for this year were higher or on par with 2016, according to Travel Leaders Group.
The 2017 Luxury Travel Trends report shows that European river cruises are leading the way in terms of destinations from affluent consumers. Vacations to Italy and Cuba are also increasingly strong, which is mirrored by a common fear of the Trump presidency seeing to the embargo on Cuba being reinstated.
