Palau tourism aims for five-star resorts only

New legislation aimed at turning Palau into a luxury destination is to be put before the incoming congress which comes into power next week.
The proposed law will restrict future investment to five-star hotel chains.
The legislation is part of the president Tommy Remengesau’s vision to reduce tourist numbers and increase tourist spending.
President Remengesau says the new law, which he aims to have passed within the first 100 days of the new government’s tenure, will include tax incentives for potential investors.
Cathay Pacific to relocate at New York JFK
Cathay Pacific has announced that it will relocate its operations at New York JFK airport in the new year.
Effective from January 15, the move will see the Hong Kong-based carrier transfer from Terminal 7, which is currently operated by British Airways, to Terminal 8.
The move means that Cathay Pacific passengers will be able to connect with a number of Oneworld carriers, principally American Airlines for onwards flights, without transferring between terminals.
Qatar Airways set to unveil ‘super business class’ in March
Qatar Airways is to launch its new ‘super business class’ suites in March, with the middle seats set to contain a double bed, according to reports.
The airline’s custom-designed premium business class seats are being slated for both the Boeing 777-300ER and Airbus A350 fleets, and are likely to launch from December this year.
Qatar Airways’ CEO Akbar Al Baker will unveil the new seats at the annual ITB Berlin travel trade show, which begins on March 8, according to Australian Business Traveller.
Hilton opens first Curio property in Middle East
Hilton has opened the first property under its boutique four and five-star Curio collection in the Middle East.
AlRayyan Hotel Doha, Curio Collection by Hilton is directly connected to the Mall of Qatar, located close to the Al-Rayyan Sport Club.
The hotel’s 201 rooms feature floor-to-ceiling windows, over-sized bathrooms and walk-in rain showers.
