Iconic Sequoia ‘Tunnel Tree’ Brought Down By California Storm

A powerful winter storm in California has brought down an ancient tree, carved into a living tunnel more than a century ago.

The “Pioneer Cabin Tree,” a sequoia in Calaveras Big Trees State Park, saw horses and cars pass through it over the years. More recently, only hikers were allowed to walk through the massive tree.

 

Singapore Airlines to reveal new A380 suites mid-year

Singapore Airlines will reveal its all-new Airbus A380 first class suites mid-year, ahead of their debut on a fresh superjumbo fleet arriving from late 2017.

The Star Alliance member hopes that its launch of the luxe suites – slated for a massive media event to be held in Singapore – will make the airline more appealing to first class flyers in face of competition from Emirates and Etihad Airways.

 

New hotels in 2017: New York, LA, Chicago to get room boom

This year is shaping up to be a healthy one for the U.S. hotel industry, with more 33,000 new rooms planned in the top 10 most active markets.

According to industry research firm Lodging Econometrics, the top market by far is New York City, with an estimated 8,612 new rooms in the pipeline for 2017.
