A sad thing happened last week. The weekly photo sharing event on Twitter – FriFotos – came to an end. It was bound to happen and I’m frankly a little surprised that the organizers hadn’t pulled the plug earlier. Not from disinterest, there was plenty of interest, but because given the fluid nature of social media nothing is forever and everything must evolve.
And so that’s what I want to do, evolve. I got used to compiling a weekly photo gallery, some admittedly better than others, and I don’t want to stop that. So with that in mind I will continue my own FriFotos post every week, following a theme of my choosing. It’s not to replicate FriFotos but rather continue a creative exercise that I’ve enjoyed for the last five years. I need this weekly challenge in order to get out of the rut that blogging and social media can sometimes create and to unleash my own creativity in something fresh and new. And so, without further ado, here’s my first non-FriFotos FriFotos gallery. This week I went with the theme of New Beginnings and what they mean to me personally. When I imagine a photographic review of new beginnings I think of sunrises, first days in destinations, babies and anticipation of the travel experience, all of which I hope are well demonstrated in this photo series.
