First Look At The Regal Princess And The Star Studded Love Boat Gala

I was invited by Princess Cruises’ to participate in the christening of their newest ship the Regal Princess in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida Wednesday night. The event was far from a standard christening though; it’s the launch of their 50th anniversary year and to usher in the year of festivities Princess went back to its roots and made the evening a star studded gala honoring The Love Boat and the actors who not only made the show so very popular, but the cruise line as well.

On hand were the stars of the show who were also named Godparents of the Regal Princess. They were joined in a special red carpet event honoring more than 20 of the show’s many costars who appeared every Saturday night in the late 1970s and early 1980s. From Florence Henderson to Marion Ross and even Jamie Farr, the evening was fun and festive.

It’s also my first time on-board a Princess Cruise ship and I’m eager to see what this line is all about. Starting today I’m sailing on a brief cruise to the Bahamas, during which I’ll sample the Regal Princess’ restaurants, entertainment options and more.

I walked around the ship when I first arrived and took some early photos of this new ship and of course I had my camera out during the gala celebration itself.

Here’s a sneak peak at both the ship and the special Love Boat christening event that took place earlier in the week. After the cruise I’ll share my honest thoughts about the cruise line and whether or it’s one I’d consider using again in the future.

In the meantime, please let me know if you have any questions!
