Checking Another Item Off My Adventure Travel Bucket List

Cancun, Mexico beach

This Thursday I begin a short but what will surely be a memorable stay at the Villa del Palmar in Cancun, Mexico. It’s not just for the luxury accommodations and service at the property that has me excited, I’m excited for what I’ll be doing once there.

Every May through September, whale sharks migrate to the waters off of the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico to feed on plankton. The whale shark is the world’s largest fish, the largest of which can be more than 40 feet long. These enormous creatures though are filter feeders, not people feeders and pose no risk to us. That’s a good thing ultimately, because swimming alongside these massive creatures has been at the top of my adventure travel list for a long time.

Even though I’m traveling to Mexico to swim with the whale sharks, I’ll be doing so at one of the premier luxury hotels in Cancun. The Villa del Palmar has it all, from spacious and well-appointed suites to amazing food and spa options and they even have the option to add private butler service. I’ll be in Mexico at the invitation and sponsorship of Villa del Palmar, but all thoughts and opinions will of course be my own. I can’t wait to swim with the whale sharks and frankly to get some rest and relaxation at the resort.

I’ve been on the go a lot lately and the idea of resting in luxury and seclusion is very attractive. That’s what luxury adventure is all about to me and why it’s the way I usually travel. I love getting out there and being active, but I also like to come back to nice rooms and comfortable accommodations.

So please follow along with me (hashtag #VillaPalmarCancun) as I explore Cancun once again and finally get my chance to swim with the whale sharks.
