LandLopers Picks of the Week

Luang Prabang, Laos

1. The Time-Crunched Traveler

This is a great post not only if you want to learn more about fantastic places to visit in Asia, but because it addresses something from which we all suffer. We all have preconceived notions of destinations and in many cases it prevents us from even visiting them. I know I’ve been guilty of this, but this post is a great example of why every place deserves at least one chance to impress.

7 places I never thought I’d want to visit in Asia (but I do!)

2. Journey Jottings

This is a very, very cool site, enough said. If you love maps and graphics combined with engaging writing, then this is the place for you. It’s hard to explain, so just go and check it out for yourself, believe me you won’t be disappointed.

Holiday in Australia’s Magical Mangroves

3. The Traveling Philosopher

A great blog should be at times personal, very personal. This is not an area in which Spencer is deficient, much to his readers’ delight. His latest post is no different and not only does it reveal a lot about the author, but I think there are a lot of points made from which we can all benefit.

Love at First Trip

4. Solo Friendly

Call me a travel dork, but I love snapshots and first impressions of cities I haven’t visited. Living vicariously through a writer is an amazing experience and I particularly enjoyed this post because I’ve been thinking about how limited my American travels have been. Go take a look and learn more about a truly great American city.

Why, thanks, Matt. I’m glad you enjoyed reading about San Antonio. It’s true there are a lot of wonderful places to visit right here in the US that most of us never get to. I’m sure glad I made it there.

Definately agree with the sentiment that one needs to open their mind and try new things. Before I started travelling, I had a list of places that I wanted to see, and another list of places that I was sure I had no interest in seeing. After a short while, I really decided to open my mind and just explore anywhere new and, lo and behold, discovered a whole range of places that I appreciated on levels I never thought possible.

Don’t be scared, just go for it 🙂
