Travel Inspired Recipes for the Holidays – The Sabra Hummus Cookbook

ful

So, as you may or may not know for the past six months I’ve been one of Sabra’s official Tastemakers. I decided to partner with this great company because of the emphasis they place on the travel experience and how that influences what we eat. I can relate with trying to relive travel moments at home through food and that’s a big part of Sabra’s mission. So with this in mind and with the holidays already here, I wanted to share with you their 2012 Mediterranean Taste Adventure Cookbook.

In the free cookbook you’ll find culinary inspiration for every type of meal and holiday party you may have on the horizon. I love the recipes in this cookbook because they remain authentic to the flavors found throughout the Mediterranean and Middle East, but with a twist. They’re also healthy, which is a rarity during the holidays. Unlike the dozens of sugar cookies and snacks in my house, Sabra hummus is something I never have to feel guilty about eating.

In addition to the recipes in this cookbook I also want to share with you one of my favorite recipes using Sabra Hummus. While traveling through Jordan, I noticed a common side dish that I had never seen before – ful. Popular at breakfast, but served all day long, ful is a basic staple of Jordanian cuisine. In its most simple version, this Middle Eastern food is made by mixing fava beans and a variety of spices. It’s also very common to serve ful with hummus, creating an easy to prepare and delicious snack. I quickly became addicted to Jordanian food and my tour guide’s mother was kind enough to provide me with a variety of recipes, including the one for ful. For a true Middle Eastern experience, prepare ful according to the recipe below and serve over Sabra hummus.
