The travel blog world this week was focused on one place – New Zealand. Blog4NZ is a grass-roots effort on the part of the international travel blogging community to promote all that is good about travel in New Zealand. It is a worldwide blogging event that is running from the 21st to 23nd of March — the one-month anniversary of the quake.
Following the devastating earthquake in Christchurch on February 22 this year, New Zealand has been in shock. Tourism makes up approximately 10% of New Zealand’s GDP and it is essential for the world to know that New Zealand is open for business. The goal of the Blog4NZ event is to show people that New Zealand is a great travel destination.
So this week it makes sense to highlight some of my favorite posts from this worldwide effort to help New Zealand.
Jeremy featured a fantastic guest post this week written by John Reese, editor of the site The French Way Blog. It’s the story of living in the aftermath of the earthquake in Christchurch and offers a unique and incredibly positive perspective.
Blog4NZ – New Zealand 100% Pure
Of anyone in the travel world, there are few through whom I would rather live vicariously than Dave and Deb. Not only do they travel to some of the most amazing places in the world, but their experiences are what really set them apart. Anyone can travel and not do much, but they truly live life and I really enjoy their stories. This week in support of Blog4NZ they recanted an amazing story with out-of-this-world photos.
There can be no doubt that food is an integral part of the travel experience, which is why I love Our Tasty Travels. This week in support of Blog4NZ, they asked the vast travel community for their best culinary tips when visiting New Zealand.
