LandLopers Picks of the Week

While many of us watched helplessly as the coverage of the earthquake off the coast of Japan streamed in, Christopher Elliott was living through a terrifying experience in Hawaii. As we all know, the threat of a tremendous tsunami hitting the islands was a real one. Thankfully, Hawaii was spared any major damage from the colossal seismic event, but Christopher relates what it was like to experience this phenomenon first hand.

Janice and I think a lot alike, and many of our more thoughtful posts reflect this similarity of spirit. This week she echoes some of my own recent thoughts about the heart of the travel experience and recapturing what makes it so special.

Traveling Canucks

The Traveling Canucks have a great talent at finding interesting and unusual travel experiences. Luckily for us, this story about a snowy adventure in the desert is one of their best. I honestly loved the photos as much as the prose in this fascinating piece.

Traveling Savage

I would have thought that Keith and I were separated at birth, except that his talent at capturing the sensation of traveling is so much more eloquent than my own. Keith’s true travel love is also mine, Scotland. For us both, this small country holds enormous fascination and endless wonder as we both seek to explore as much of it as possible. This week Keith highlighted one of my favorite world capitals, Edinburgh.

  1. The post on “How To Survive A Tsunami In Your Hotel” is really relevant for travelers, especially with what happened recently to Japan. And Christopher Elliot wrote it with just the right humor too! Made me laugh a bit. Of course, the information he provided is really good :)

Thanks for the recommendations Matt! I’m off to read the other blogs you recommended :D Cheers!
