Bermuda braces for approaching Hurricane Leslie

Tourists postponed holidays in Bermuda and locals stocked up on emergency supplies as a stalled Hurricane Leslie spun over the open Atlantic south of this wealthy British territory Thursday night.
Hotel cancellations were reported across the territory, which is popular with tourists for its pink sand beaches and with businesspeople as an offshore financial haven.
Cathay Pacific bans shark fins as airline cargo

Hong Kong airline Cathay Pacific says it will stop carrying shark fins as cargo, bowing to pressure from groups concerned about cruelty and possible extinctions as China’s appetite for the delicacy rises.
“Due to the vulnerable nature of sharks, their rapidly declining population, and the impacts of overfishing for their parts and products, our carriage of these is inconsistent with our commitment to sustainable development,” Cathay said in a statement.
Teenage tourist bitten by grizzly bear

A teenager jogging on a Sitka trail during a ferry layover was bitten by a grizzly bear.
KCAW reports (http://is.gd/Yuc3l6) 18-year-old Vancouver, British Columbia, resident Nicola Rammell chanced upon a sow and her cub on the Mosquito Cove trail Wednesday. She turned to run, but fell off the trail and down a hill. Alaska Fish and Game biologist Phil Mooney says the bear bit her on the buttocks.
