Short Term Vacation Rental Case Study: Nox Rentals in Cape Town

Sunset from Apostles Edge House

Last year I had the opportunity to use a short term rental while on vacation for the first time. I was nervous in the beginning, I mean who knows if those pictures are accurate or if the place is in a bad neighborhood. However the experience wasn’t just a good one, it transformed the trip into a fantastic vacation. While we don’t use them for every trip, I am a convert to the short term rental craze. But in the back of my mind I kept wondering whether or not we simply lucked out, which is why I was thrilled to have another amazing experience while on a blog trip to Cape Town with the luxury rental company Nox Rentals.

Although for many of us short term vacation rentals may be a newish phenomenon, it’s been going on for a while and in Cape Town Nox Rentals has been managing luxury properties since 2003. I had seen photos of our property on Apostles Edge, so named for the majestic mountain range in the backyard, but it’s hard to really get a feeling for a place through photos alone.

I was met at the door by the concierge, all Nox properties feature a 24-hour concierge, who could see I was exhausted from a long flight and so helped me get quickly settled. A tour of the house quickly proved that the photos weren’t exaggerated, the house was amazing. The six-bedroom house rests in the prestigious Camps Bay area of Cape Town and features stunning views of the Twelve Apostles Mountain range and of course the ocean. In fact the house was designed to maximize the ocean panorama and just about every room has a jaw-dropping view.

I have a modern design aesthetic and so I was pleased to see that the luxury house had been decorated in the same way. But it wasn’t cold or sterile, it was warm and cozy, aided by the roaring fire. Although I knew I’d only be there for a week, it felt like home right away. The house was fully equipped with everything I’d need to cook, free WiFi, high-end amenities in the bathrooms and of course the 24-hour concierge service. After talking with the concierge I learned that he could set up anything I wanted during my stay, from babysitters (if I had kids) to local tours.

There’s a lot to be said for staying in a real house or condo when you travel. Not only is it more spacious than a hotel room, it’s usually more cost effective for what you get. Instead of one room plus bath, the Apostles Edge house had a spacious kitchen, living and dining room, terraces and even a pool, although the winter weather wasn’t cooperative during our stay.

My time in Cape Town and Camps Bay flew by, it’s hard to believe that it’s actually over. The entire adventure was a dream come true; especially our accommodations. I’ve stayed at a lot of very nice places and when we travel it’s usually as luxury travelers, but I can say without exaggeration that the Nox Rentals property in Apostles Edge is one of the nicest places I’ve had the pleasure of enjoying.

So if you find yourself in Cape Town, be sure to check out Nox Rentals and enjoy living like a local during your holiday in the Mother City.

If you’re interested in this house specifically or any of their nearby locations, then be sure to contact Nox Rentals for superb Camps Bay
accommodation.
