Airline Forbids Men From Sitting Next to Children Traveling Alone
Cleveland News
An Australian airline’s policy prohibiting male passengers from sitting next to kids traveling alone has fueled a social media firestorm and caused the company to review the rule.
“I am an emergency service worker when I’m off that plane, but as soon as I boarded it I was a presumed pedophile,” firefighter Johnny McGirr told CNN Australian affiliate Network Ten.
While on a Virgin Australia flight earlier this year, he was seated next to two young boys traveling alone until he says a flight attendant asked him to trade seats with a woman.

Tourism minister weighs in on cross-border Costco feud
Toronto Sun
B.C. Tourism Minister Pat Bell rapped the knuckles of Canadians taking their loonies south of the border Tuesday, saying if they shopped at home they wouldn’t face the wrath of angry Americans.
Bell was responding to a war of words between Canadians and Americans sparked by a Facebook page launched by Bellingham, Wash., residents, demanding American-only hours at the stateside Costco.
“I want British Columbians to stay at home and shop at home,” he said. “I’m a personal friend of the Facebook page. If they don’t want Canadians to go across the border and shop down there, I’m OK with that. I want them staying in British Columbia and shopping here.”
