This week I decided to go with a theme for my Picks of the Week, and that theme is foodies. Here are the latest posts from some of my favorite food (and travel) bloggers – check them out and get ready to be hungry.
My first choice may come from a well known food blogger, but the subject is decidedly more somber. Brooke and her family live in Colorado Springs, Colorado which has been plagued recently by the worst forest fires in the state’s history. This very personal and moving post is a first hand account of the emotional toll living in fear of mother nature can take.
I love getting food advice from excellent home cooks, but it’s also nice to follow the pros for their creative twists and new creations. That’s why I love this site featuring the culinary expertise of Marnely. This recipe in particular made its way across my email inbox recently and I can’t wait to try it at our next dinner party.
Classic Olive Oil Cake With Blueberry Marmellata
It may have taken me 35 years to discover the joys of salted caramel, but ever since I first tasted this delightful dessert in Australia I’ve been making up for lost time. This post by Shulie couldn’t have been better timed as we enter into a massive heat wave here on the East Coast and all thoughts are towards anything cool and relaxing.
Salted Caramel Ice Cream With Salted Caramel Shards
4. Legal Nomads
While this post may be uncharacteristically short, it’s fun, informative and interesting. Jodi’s love of all things food shines through and I love the fact there’s even a recipe.

Who am I? I am a typical Gen-Xer and recovering cubicle-dweller who has a passion for all things travel. My site brings a unique perspective that is hard to find online. I am not a backpacker, nor am I...

My favorite ice cream in the world is right in my hometown of Columbus, Ohio. They’ve been making salty caramel ice cream for years, and I love it.
Excellent theme!
