Millions of people around the world love to golf, and with good reason. It’s a fun way to spend a day outside and to usually see some amazing scenery. I’m not a golfer, but my partner is and so we usually incorporate a golf outing or two on our travels. There are two locations in particular where we have had a great time golfing.
Golf in Hawaii – Hawaii is a dream location for golfers. On almost every island there is a championship course set in amongst some of the most striking landscapes found anywhere in the world. Golf in Hawaii is not only fun, it’s a great way to see more of the state’s natural wonders. One of my favorite golf courses in Hawaii is the famous course at the Four Seasons Manele on Lanai, the Challenge at Manele. Built on the rugged coast of Lanai, the Challenge at Manele crosses lava fields, open fields and amazing panoramic views of the ocean. The course is a Jack Nicklaus designed, 7,039–yard, par 72 and even incorporates archaeological ruins found throughout the course. This course is also where Bill and Melinda Gates married after renting every room on the island. If the views are enough to impress the world’s richest man, then they’re sure to impress almost anyone who visits.
Golf in Las Vegas – Far from the sounds of the breaking waves and scents of tropical flowers in Hawaii is the more austere, but no less enjoyable golf scene found in Las Vegas. Las Vegas is well known as a great place to get away from it all and indulge in adult pleasures, from gambling to a great club scene. It’s also a fantastic place to enjoy outdoor adventures, especially golf. Golf in Vegas is big business and there are several world-class courses in the area, but my favorite is the Wynn Las Vegas Golf Course. The golf course is conveniently located next to the opulent Wynn Las Vegas resort, arguably the best in the city. The somewhat daunting course is 7,042 yards and meanders through 137 acres of prime Vegas real estate. The course is a tribute to perfection and even the weekend duffer will have a great time playing the Wynn Las Vegas.
These are just a couple of my favorite golf destinations, what are some of yours?
