If you’re a frequent (or even infrequent) reader, then you know that I love photography and have been working hard to improve my own. The power of a single image to transport us to a new and exotic land is intoxicating and I love finding new pieces that inspire me to travel. That’s why I almost always participate in the weekly Twitter event #FriFotos, a global photo sharing extravaganza. This week though the theme had me stumped. China isn’t a bad theme necessarily, but I’ve (sadly) never been and couldn’t get past the mental block. So bear with me as I take certain artistic liberties with the theme. Ahem, china can also refer to a type of dish on which food is served. Food is an important part of the travel experience and so I present some of my favorite drool worthy food photos from my travels.

Brioche with Lilikoi sauce and crushed macadamia nuts at the Four Seasons Lanai

Churros con chocolate in Madrid

BBQ feast at Arthur Bryant’s in Kansas City

Taco with carne asada in Puerto Vallarta

Poutine in Banff, Canada

Butter chicken, consumed many times in many countries

Falafel pita in Tel Aviv

Hummus in Jordan

Waffle in Ghent, Belgium

Twitter sugar statue, Tres Rios Resort Riviera Maya Mexico

Bravo, way to turn the theme around! Food photos are my favorite “travel” thing to do (heck, it is also my favorite non-travel thing to do). I am working on improving my skills so I am always experimenting and taking a million photos just to get a few gems! And darn you it is 10:30 in the morning and I need lunch now!

Sorry, I also wanted to ask, if I wanted to participate in the future, how do I hear word about the theme? Is there a website, so just following the hashtag on Twitter?

The theme is announced every Tuesday at noon eastern by @EpsteinTravels – you can also search for the hash tag Tuesday afternoon to find the theme. And thanks for the kind words!
