The Capilano Cliffwalk is the newest addition to the Capilano Suspension Bridge experience in Vancouver. Just like the bridge, the cliff walk brings visitors closer to the fantastic views by becoming part of them.
Cliffwalk is a series of walkways perched 70 meters over the rushing Capilano river in the middle of a lush forest. The walk is attached to the granite rock face and visitors are given remarkable views as they traverse the 230 meter bridge. Not for those with a fear of heights, the most harrowing part is the glass bottom observation deck.
I was a little nervous as I stepped onto the walkway, but I was lucky that I knew nothing about Cliffwalk prior to that moment otherwise I may have reconsidered. The bridge appears to be impossibly attached to the rock wall, something you really start to notice as you walk ever so gingerly across the metal span. Below was the river and forest and above were eagles and those giant trees for which British Colombia is so well known.
The scariest part was definitely those glass panels, but I felt safe and secure as I crept along to the edge. It was beautiful and the Cliffwalk is another great way to really become part of the natural experience when you visit Capilano.
