LandLopers Picks of the Week

1. A Dangerous Business

Amanda touched on a topic this week of keen interest to me personally. Before traveling to a new destination I do copious research on all aspects of the culture. One of my favorite topics is mythology, which is the feature of this wonderful post. Amanda takes us on a journey through time, deep into Maori culture in New Zealand.

2. 501 Places

Andy and I were chatting this week about a topic I had not before considered, the entrance fees to some of the major attractions of the world, particularly Petra. This casual conversation led to a great post analyzing not only how much it costs to visit the 7 Wonders of the World, but whether or not there should be any fees at all.

3. The Minute Tour

I had the opportunity to meet Alex, the founder of The Minute Tour, just a few months ago. At our first meeting he told me of his idea to create a web site where anyone can upload a short video of their hometown or favorite travel destination. The idea is to create a travel database of unique videos shot by people who are passionate about the destination. I think that it’s a wonderful idea and encourage you all to take a look and maybe even submit a video.

4. Go, See, Write

Michael is one of my favorite travel writers for many reasons, not the least of which is his ability to provide interesting and useful travel information. This week he wrote a post that everyone should read, print, memorize, bookmark and possibly even have tattooed on their backs. This is seriously useful and important travel advice. Go, read, learn.
